I am Mia.

I am 15 years old and this is my story. It first started with sudden sharp pain on my right side. I got rushed up to the emergency room and then got emergency surgery to get my appendix out as they thought it was appendicitis. While operating they did find a large amount of blood in my pelvis (could be a possible sign of endometriosis). The pain continued after the surgery for many many months. I was admitted in the hospital for these many many months being told that what I was experiencing was all in my head.

After a whole load of begging, and tests that all came back completely normal, my GP finally referred me to a general surgeon who did a colonoscopy and a gastroscopy. They both came back completely normal, so he then referred me to a gynaecologist. At this point, I had already seen a gynaecologist briefly while in the ER and she had told me there was no chance that I would have endometriosis. My referral went through with the private gynaecologist and my very first appointment with her, she organised a diagnostic laparoscopy.

I got that done no more than a week later and there was Endometriosis covering my Fallopian tubes, but no excision was done at the time. I have been living in pain ever since. I have recently been referred to a new gynaecologist who will hopefully be helping me get on top of things.
